Official USA Word 3.17.20

Update

Given the growing concern and uncertainty surrounding the corona virus, USA Wrestling has suspended all sanctioned events through April 20th. While no one wants to get on the mat more than our coach staff, we also want to ensure the health and safety of our members. Therefore, we are working closely with USA Wrestling and using guidelines prescribed by our state organization as we work through this situation. 

As of right now practices, conditioning, open facilities, etc. are cancelled through Sunday, March 22nd.

Parent Informational Meeting is Tonight

Mat Time & Travel = Solid Wrestlers

Blackman Freestyle and Greco has been getting some serious work on the mats on the weekends. Each weekend in April, wrestlers have been putting time in. Practices started April 1st and for the past four weekends, there have been many opportunities for wrestlers to put their skills to the test. Only one weekend has been without travel, April 20th, when Blackman High School hosted the Ironman tournament.  With traveling the other three weekends, wrestlers who went out of the state for competition traveled over 1,866 miles to make themselves better.  

For those who have participated in Freestyle and Greco, the results have defiantly played a part in their accomplishments during the regular season.  The past season, Blackman High School wrstling placed 5th in the state as a team.  Out of the 14 starters, 10 wrestlers participated in Freestyle and Greco previously.  Blackman Wrestling had four individual medalists at states, three of which did Freestyle and Greco.  The results of Freestyle and Greco participation and summer strength and conditioning is showing!
